The Wine Spirit and Education Trust (WSET) is a globally recognized wine training program that will allow participants to gain insight into the world of wine and spirits. DJ Kearney is a Vancouver-based wine educator, wine writer, judge, presenter and classically trained chef. A diverse background in wine, food and geology makes her uniquely qualified to guide the discovery of the world’s wine regions, the sharpening of palates, the understanding of terroir and the chemistry of food and wine harmony. She holds the WSET Level 4 Diploma of Wine and Spirits, the International Sommelier Guild's Sommelier Diploma and has spent several years in the Master of Wine program. DJ is the Wine Director of New District, an innovative online platform for wine, a critic with WineAlign, and Chief Judge of the Vancouver Magazine International Wine Competition. She moderates and speaks at wine festivals and for trade organizations, judges locally and internationally, and has started an Apprentice Judge training program in Canada to help mentor the next generation of wine judges in Canada.
Iain Philip DipWSET is a long standing wine instructor in Vancouver and has been dedicated to teaching the Wine & Spirit Education Trust courses since 2002. He currently teaches all levels of the WSET programs, including the Level 4 Diploma. He has conducted WSET classes in several other markets including Calgary and San Diego, and has consulted for some of North America’s largest wine companies wanting to incorporate the curriculum into their staff training. Iain gained the WSET Diploma in 2001, French Wine Scholar in 2014 (with Highest Honors) and is a Cavaleiro in the Port Wine Brotherhood. With his wife Barbara Philip MW and their company Barbariain Wine Consulting, Iain is a regular contributor to Taste Magazine as well as a presenter and wine competition judge.
