International Students

Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts (PICA) trains students from around the world and is proud to, since 1998, be a Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) accredited Institute; PICA also holds a Education Quality Assurance of BC (EQA) designation.  As a Designated Learning Institutution, by applying for a study permit to attend Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts, you will be granted a part-time work permit to allow you to work 20 hours per week (off campus) and full time during regular school breaks for the duration of your training with us.

To study in Canada, it is the students’ responsibility to secure their own 'Study Permit' through Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). To gain more information on how to obtain a Canadian study permit, visit the CIC website.  Our Designated Learning Institution (DLI) # is O19238828022.

Although a study permit is not mandatory for programs 6-months or less, a valid Canadian visitors visa will suffice, it is highly recommended to attain a study permit as it will allow you more flexibility to be in Canada prior to commencing your studies as well as following graduation as well as provide you with a part-time work permit (20 hours per week) during your 6 month training.

Starting March 15, 2016, visa-exempt foreign nationals who fly to or transit through Canada will need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). Exceptions include U.S. citizens and travellers with a valid visa.

Admission Requirements for International Students

Prospective students must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.  If you are 19 years of age or older, you must apply as a mature student.
