Corporate Team Building Classes

To celebrate the achievement of an important company milestone, or to raise employee morale during challenging times, book a corporate cooking class at the Professional Culinary Centre @ Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts.

Our corporate ‘team building’ cooking classes are interactive and fun and will produce measurable results immediately by:

Corporate cooking classes are available Monday to Saturday (excluding statutory holidays) in the morning, afternoon or evening and able to accommodate up to 80 participants. There is a 20 person minimum for Saturday bookings.

Corporate Event Options:

Corporate 'Chopped' Challenge (minimum 12 people)

Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts' Corporate 'Chopped' Challenge is a team cooking competition that's all about skill, speed and creativity where teams compete and take everyday items and turn them into a stupendous three-course meal.  Course by course, the teams will be 'chopped' from the competition until only one team remains. 

Will you survive the 'chopping block'? 

After the 2-hour challenge,  you and your guests will enjoy a culinary feast at Bistro 101 (3 course lunch or dinner menu - Monday to Thursday or West Coast Buffet on Fridays).  Each competitor will receive a Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts' apron which they get to take home. The victorious team will also get to take home prizes!

2-Hour Cooking Class (minimum 6 people)

A typical cooking class consists of hands-on participation by you and your guests in the preparation of a 3 course menu under the tutelage of one of our European-trained Chef Instructors. The cooking class is 2 hours in duration followed by lunch or dinner in the Institute's fine dining Restaurant where you and your guests will enjoy the 'fruits of your labour'. All menus are custom-designed based on your preferences, seasonal ingredients, and your guests' dietary restrictions and/or food allergies.

Iron Chef Challenge (minimum 10 people)

The Iron Chef challenge is a 'black box' 45 minute team competition whereby each team has15 minutes to discuss and decide on the menu item(s) they will create with the 'black box' ingredient(s). Sample 'black box' ingredients are: prawn, chicken, orange, lamb, beef, or mushrooms, etc. Teams then have 30 minutes to create the dish(es) after which they must present their dish(es) to a panel of judges who will determine 'who reigns supreme'. 

After the challenge, the group will enjoy a gourmet 3-course gourmet meal in our fine dining restaurant, prepared by our advanced Culinary Arts and Baking & Pastry Arts students.

Each competitor will receive a Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts' apron which they get to take home after the event.

Apprentice-Theme Competition (minimum 10 people)

'The Apprentice-theme' challenge is a team competition only. Your group is divided into teams, chooses a Project Manager, team name and is assigned a task to complete in 1.5 hours with no assistance provided. At the end of the allotted time (1.5 hours), the teams would be judged by our very own 'TRUMP' who will determine who would be hired.

After the 2-hour competition the group will enjoy a 3-course gourmet meal in our fine dining restaurant, prepared by our advanced Culinary Arts and Baking & Pastry Arts students.

Each competitor will receive a Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts apron which they get to take home after the event.

Dining Room Etiquette (minimum 20 people)

Join our very own 'Hospitality Enthusiast', Tim Ellison for an informative and fun evening of dining etiquette, gourmet food and wine. Explore the world of 'Dining Room Etiquette' and learn of its importance in today's relationship driven work environment. Table manners play an important part in making a favourable impression. Whether you are having lunch with a prospective employer or dinner with a business associate, your table manners can speak volumes about you as a professional. We will provide you with all of the necessary tools so that you can relax and concentrate on forging relationships and instead of worrying about which fork to use. The evening is fast paced and enjoyable. Your new skills will be implemented on the spot while enjoying a gourmet four course meal with matching wines. A great team building event! 

Sushi & Sake Tasting (minimum 6-12 people)

Learn to make sushi with our very own Master Sushi Chef Katsuhito Inoue from Japan and taste various Sakes. 

A Plugged in Tour of Granville Island

A 'plugged in' 1.5 hour tour of Granville Island Public Market with one of our Chef Instructors. Learn about produce, meat and fish selections with a professional and then return to the Institute and enjoy a gourmet meal in our student-operated restaurant - Bistro 101.
