Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts, is seeking a dynamic person to fill the role Receptionist/Administrative Assistant. This is a full-time position requiring a highly organized and personable individual.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Answering telephones and greeting guests in a cheerful and pleasant manner
Directing telephone and in-person inquiries to the appropriate departments
Taking restaurant reservations
Preparing notices and signage as needed
Arranging courier pick up/deliveries as required
Data entry and reporting
Supporting Administration Office with various administrative tasks
Coordinating and ordering office supplies
Applicant must posses the following:

Chef Instructor - Culinary Arts (Evening Position)
This position reports to the Executive Chef & Program Director. The main responsibilities include delivering instruction of relevant and current curriculum using a variety of teaching methods and standardized assessment tools in our student-operated restaurant, Bistro 101.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Adhere to guidelines for lectures, demonstrations as per program curriculum outline
Ensure preparedness of required instructional supplies and tests etc. for each days class
Provide feedback and assistance for improvements and maintenance of program curriculum
Instruct and enforce classroom clean up and sanitation procedures
Measures student understanding of course content in an objective fashion
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, academic achievement, and performance progress in accordance with school policies and procedures
Performs other duties as assigned
Applicants must possess the following:
Minimum of 10 years of industry work experience - International education and/or experience
Thorough and advanced knowledge of classic and modern cooking techniques
Strong communication skills, patience and ability to lead a dynamic group of people through daily kitchen and bakeshop operations in a supervisory role
Maintenance of or willingness to work towards completion of Provincial Instructors Certification or equivalent
A valid BC drivers licence
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts is unable to assist/sponsor candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.

Restaurant Instructor (Evening Position)
The Restaurant Instructor reports directly to the Director of Food and Beverage Services. The main responsibility of this position is to train Culinary and Baking & Pastry Arts students in all aspects of food and beverage service in a full service restaurant environment.
Following the Institute's curriculum and objectives, the Restaurant Instructor organizes, directs, and coordinates the students and resources of the restaurant to achieve an outstanding customer service experience for our guests.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Training and motivating students
Working with Chef Instructors and other staff members to ensure smooth running of service operation
Supervising service of alcohol to maximize profitability whilst minimizing legal liability and conforming to regulations of the liquor board
Investigating and resolving complaints concerning food quality and service
Enforcing sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of dining areas
Complying with all health and safety regulations
Leading by example by following through the service standards of Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts from the moment first contact is made with the guest up to final departure
Ensuring students adhere to uniform standards as outlined in the Student Handbook
Processing guest checks and ensure accurate cash-out
Delivering training sessions as required
Meeting and greeting customers and organizing table reservations
Participating in and supervising off-site catering/events as required
Performing any other duties as assigned by management
Applicants must possess the following:
Minimum of 10 years Front-of-the-house and management experience
Experience with H&L point of sale preferred
Previous teaching experience
A valid BC drivers licence
A passion for both mentoring and creating a memorable guest experiences.
